KFM passed a significant milestone on November 30, 2004, when roadway sections held aloft by two separate support columns were attached into a single unit. The "closure pour" links the groups of sections cast and cured in Stockton together and involves much intricate work. Concrete trucked to near the site is pumped up through a lengthy contraption of pipes and guided into place.
